Friendly Discussions

So sure, discussing anything from AI to religion to politics to climate change is interesting, stimulating, hopefully rewarding but what about when discussions turn into arguments?

We want to establish the spirit of non-adversarial discussions at the festival so that when someone disagrees with us, rather than try to convince them they’re wrong we’ll attempt to cultivate a curiosity about why they disagree with us.

And still, sometimes people interrupt too much, speak for too long, don’t listen or maybe you just want to get the hell out of the conversation.

So we’ll establish a protocol to avoid these pitfalls and encourage the kind of conversation where everyone feels heard. These may be hand signals, code words or just a nearby handy waterpistol – a guaranteed way to make sure someone stops monopolising the conversation…
